The
new e-Cert storage medium offers greater
durability and user-friendliness
E-Mice Solutions (HK) Limited (E-Mice),
the operator of Hongkong Post e-Cert services,
today announces the launch of the e-Cert
File Card as an alternative e-Cert storage
medium to the floppy diskette. The e-Cert
File Card is a smart card embedded with
an e-Cert. It is user-friendly, more durable
and less susceptible to adverse effect arising
from fluctuations in humidity and temperature
when compared with the floppy diskette,
and its embedded e-Cert can be read using
the same smart card readers for reading
e-Certs embedded in Smart ID Cards.
"For secure online transactions to
take off, the usage of e-Cert has to become
more convenient and user-friendly,"
said Mr. Winston Leong, Chairman of E-Mice
Group. "The e-Cert File Card offers
a more reliable storage medium for the e-Cert,
and in a smaller size for convenient safe-keeping."
"We are glad that our outsourced
e-Cert operator has come up with this new
e-Cert storage medium which is in keeping
with the latest chip card technology development.
We hope that this new medium can help to
encourage the increasing adoption of e-Cert
among both individuals and organizations
in Hong Kong," said Mr. Dan Choi, Assistant
Postmaster General (Business Development)
of Hongkong Post.
As the operator of the Hongkong Post e-Cert
services, E-Mice will continue to work closely
with Hongkong Post and other technology
and solution partners to develop value-added
services that will further stimulate the
usage and applications of the Hongkong Post
e-Cert in the near future.
