Each of the e-Certs and Bank-Certs
issued by Hongkong Post bears a digital signature
supported by a Hongkong Post CA root certificate
that proves the authenticity of the e-Cert or
Bank-Cert. The common browser software installed
on your computer supports storage and use of such
root certificates. To allow your browser to recognize
the e-Certs and Bank-Certs issued by Hongkong
Post, the following Hongkong Post CA root certificates
should be installed in your browser on your computer:-

1) Hongkong Post
e-Cert CA 1
This CA certificate is valid for 10 years (15
May 2003 – 15 May 2013) and is used for verifying
the Hongkong Post digital signature on the following
certificates:-
- e-Cert (Personal) with 3-year validity issued
on or after 23 June 2003 (including e-Cert (Personal)
on Smart ID Card))
- e-Cert (Organisational), e-Cert (Encipherment),
e-Cert (Server), Bank-Cert (Personal) and Bank-Cert
(Corporate) issued on or after 12 January 2004.
The words "Hongkong Post e-Cert CA 1"
will be displayed in the "Issuer" field
of the above e-Certs and Bank-Certs.

Hongkong Post Root CA 1
This CA certificate is valid for 20 years (15
May 2003 – 15 May 2023) and is required for verifying
the Hongkong Post digital signature on the root
certificate "Hongkong Post e-Cert CA 1".

Hongkong Post e-Cert CA
This CA certificate has been superseded and revoked
on 31 March 2005. It is still available for verifying
the Hongkong Post digital signature on e-Cert
(Personal), e-Cert (Organisational), e-Cert (Encipherment),
e-Cert (Server), Bank-Cert (Personal) and Bank-Cert
(Corporate) with 1-year validity issued before
1 February 2004. (Click

Installation
of Root/e-Cert CA Certificate
The following instructions are for reference
only. More details can be found in "Help"
of the browser software.
Internet Explorer
Please follow the steps below to install each
of the root/e-Cert CA certificates listed above:
- Click on the link of the root/e-Cert CA certificate
to be installed.
- In the File Download
dialog box, click Open.
- In the Certificate
dialog box, select the Details
tab to view the information of the root/e-Cert
CA certificate.
- Click Install Certificate
to install the root/e-Cert CA certificate.
- In the Certificate Import
Wizard, click Next
to continue.
- Select the "Automatically select the
certificate store based on the type of certificate"
option, and then click Next.
- Click Finish to
close the wizard.
Netscape / Mozilla Firefox
Please follow the steps below to install each
of the root/e-Cert CA certificates listed above:
- Click on the link of the root/CA certificate
to be installed.
- In the Downloading Certificate
dialog box, click View
to view the information of the certificate.
- Check all the boxes and then click OK.
Mac OS X
Please follow the steps below to install the
"Hongkong Post e-Cert CA" and "Hongkong
Post e-Cert CA 1" certificates listed above:
- Click on the link to download the CA certificate
to be installed.
- Open the downloaded certificate file.
- In the Add Certificates
dialog box, click View Certificates
to view the information of the certificate.
- Click OK.
Please follow the steps below to install the
"Hongkong Post Root CA" and "Hongkong
Post Root CA 1" certificates listed above:
- Click on the link to download the root certificate
to be installed.
- Open the downloaded certificate file.
- In the Add Certificate
dialog box, click View
to view the information of the certificate.
- Select the X509 Anchors
keychain, and then click OK.
- In the Authenticate
dialog box, enter administrator's name and password,
and then click OK.
