Upon completion of the online e-Cert renewal application, a floppy disk / e-Cert File Card containing the renewed e-Cert and its corresponding PIN Envelope will be sent to the Subscriber through registered mails separately. To ensure you can receive the new e-Cert file before the expiry of the current e-Cert, we suggest you to submit your renewal application at least one week before the expiry date. The Subscriber can load the renewed e-Cert from floppy disk / e-Cert File Card to his Smart ID Card by himself only if :

• Subscriber's Smart ID Card has been embedded with an e-Cert before and that its corresponding e-Cert PIN is available; and
• Subscriber's system is installed with a suitable smart card reader; and
• Subscriber's system is installed with the e-Cert Control Manager software; and
• Subscriber's system is installed with the e-Cert File Card Utility Program (for e-Cert File Card subscribers only); and
• Subscriber's system can gain access to the renewed e-Cert

If a Subscriber wishes to load the e-Cert from backup floppy disk / e-Cert File Card to the Smart ID Card but the above requirements are not fully met, it is not recommended to apply the online renewal service. The Subscriber has to attend the 16 designated post offices in person to perform the renewal application and let the staff there to load the renewed e-Cert to the Smart ID Card.

For Internet Explorer (IE) users, a plug-in for digital signing will be installed automatically (if required) when you click the "Apply Now" button to proceed. If you are using Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) or above, please read the tips on installing the plug-in (graphic version only) and trusting Hongkong Post CA's website (graphic version only).

During the online application / payment process, a Subscriber is required to use a valid e-Cert for online identity authentication. Hence, please get ready the valid e-Cert and import to the browser before using the online application / payment service. Please refer to e-Cert User Guide on how to import your e-Cert into the browser.
