Hongkong Post Bank-Cert (Personal) certificates are issued to individuals who have a Hong Kong identity card (age 18 or over) and are customers of the banks acting as Registration Authority ("RA"). These certificates may be used to perform Internet banking services and other commercial operations. Applicants have to contact the RA directly for Bank-Cert application. However, for revocation request, Subscribers can contact Hongkong Post CA directly or the RA identified in the certificate within the business hours of the RA as stated in the Bank-Cert Certification Practice Statement (Bank-Cert CPS). Hongkong Post CA provides Central Key Generation service to generate the key pairs and certificate on behalf of the Subscribers.
A Bank-Cert (Personal) certificate contains the following information :-
- RA's Name;
- Subscriber's name as it appears on the applicant's Hong Kong identity card;
- The Subscriber's Hong Kong identity card number in an encrypted form;
- E-mail address (optional);
- A unique Subscriber Reference Number; and
- RA's Reference Information, which may not be applicable for all the RAs.
Hongkong Post CA is now issuing the following type(s) of Bank-Cert (Personal) certificates:-
- Hongkong Post Bank-Cert (Shanghai Commercial Bank-Personal) [Note: Shanghai Commercial Bank Limited (web site: http://www.shacombank.com.hk/) is the Registration Authority.]
The above certificates are available at the cost of HK$60 per certificate and valid for three year.

Reliance Limit of Hongkong Post Bank-Cert (Personal)
The "Reliance Limit" as defined under the Electronic Transactions Ordinance in respect of one Bank-Cert (Personal) is HK$200,000.
